Spain's Laura Pous Tio, who tested positive for banned diuretics hydrochlorothiazide and amiloride during the 2007 Wimbledon qualifying tournament, will have to complete her 2 year ban sentence.

The ban officialy started in October 2007. The Spaniard appealed the decision, but wasn't successfull as the Court of Arbitration for Sport has upheld the two-year doping ban.

"The CAS Tribunal rejected the player's contention that she bore no fault or negligence or no significant fault or negligence," CAS said on its Web site.

The former world No.74 Pous Tio will be allowed to play again on October 1st, this year. It will be a wonderful gift for the Spaniard, who's celebrating her 25th birthday that day.

Su sanción termina el 1 de Octubre de 2009 puesto que fué sancionada oficialmente a partir de Octubre de 2007, y tras la apelación, sin éxito, la sanción se ha mantenido en dos años

Esperemos que no sea como en otros deportes donde tras un caso se acumulan los culpables. Me alegro de que, por el momento, tenis se haya quedado al margen de todo este tipo de asuntos, por lo menos de forma general.
